**Staré Město** If Prague is all about medieval charm and history for you, then the Old Town Staré Město neighbourhood is the place to stay. Not only is it centrally located for many of the most popular traditional Czech-style watering holes, its higgedly-piggedly cobbled streets also lead to the Old Town Square, with its imposing Church of Our Lady before Týn and the curious Prague Orloj astronomical clock.

Malá Strana

It’s not the cheapest neighbourhood in Prague but, despite the name, Malá Strana or the Lesser Town is the place to stay if you want to experience a little of the high life during your stag do. Malá Strana’s location right along the Vltava River is especially charming, and being at the top of a hill gives you breathtaking views back over the Old Town. Leave a message on the area’s famous John Lennon Wall, spot peacocks as you wander through the manicured 17th-century Wallenstein Garden, and then nurse a local Budweiser in one of the area’s many traditional Czech pubs.

Nové Město

Prague isn’t only about old stuff, and staying in modern Nové Město – the New Town – means you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to bars and clubs. Wenceslas Square is right on your doorstep, and there’s the Palladium shopping centre, National Theatre and Municipal House concert hall if they’re more your bag. You’ll also get more of a feel for the ‘real’ Prague of locals than in the beautiful but touristy Old Town. That means it’s also a wise choice if you’re on a bit of a budget, since accommodation prices tend to be slightly lower in Nové Město than elsewhere in the city.

Letna

Staying in Letná means forsaking some of the convenience of staying in the city centre – but if you’re happy to hop on the metro, the trade-off is a trendy, local-feeling vibe and great spots like Letna-Schlösschen beer garden to chill out with a few cold ones and views over the city. You’re close enough to catch the footie at Sparta Prague’s Generali Arena (also called the Letná Stadium), and history buffs can get their fill of vintage Czech cars and telescopes at the National Technical Museum.
