Overview

The Trabant is a true icon of Eastern European engineering. It's an assembly of tin plate and bolts with less oomph than a wheelbarrow and was the only car available before the Berlin Wall came down. Learn to operate the gear stick built into the dashboard and take a scenic cruise, before racing back at low speed for a big night out.

Great fun, and a good challenge to drive. Also got to see some beautiful countryside outside the city. Nice spot for lunch, goulash soup was really good, and pancake for dessert, but not a very exciting main course, chicken, schnitzel, with chips and rice.

Very enjoyable and something different, though our guide had more limited English than some of the others (still better than our Hungarian) but it made it a little harder for the tour

This was a right laugh. We had the trabants for about 4 hours and for 3 of the hours we were driving. The stag and I had a pink coloured trabant which caused quite a stir with the locals. Definitely a great way to get rid of a hangover in the morning. The staff were a right laugh and the pub lunch was very enjoyable. All in all a very fun day.

We weren't sure what to expect with Trabant rally but as we walked to the car park outside our Apartment and saw the fleet of cars we knew we were in for a good day. There were two people to a car so everyone picked their favourite apart from the stag who had a bright pink Trabant with Hello Kitty sun visors and a radio!! Our Trabant guide Mario was excellent very friendly and funny, again one of the nicest people I have met. He talked us through the safety aspects and off we went on a four hour drive of Budapest and the surrounding mountains. Half way through we stopped on top of the mountain for a traditional lunch of goulash and traditional Hungarian meats. We then completed a small walk to a view point to see some excellent views. The whole day was brilliantly organised, great fun and better than expected becoming the favourite event for much of our group including the stag.

Oh my god this was the best thing ever. So much fun, the guy leading us made it even better. Would recommend a later start time on the morning after the guided bar crawl... heads were all a little sore!

The guy running it was so calm and funny. Be prepared to drive through the city and for vehicles that you can tell are old. Absolutely great fun though!

Can not recommend enough. Can seem slightly daunting to start with as you start at the hotel. This means you're thrown in the deep end in hungarian traffic. However after a few minutes it feels natural driving these bad boys. You drive out to the hills about 30 miles away, have a lovely lunch and then head back into town. The guy that leads this is a brilliant character. Very fun and kept rescuing the odd broken down trabant.
