In a Nutshell:
- The Las Vegas Strip is 7.3 km long.
- The population is approximately 590,000.
- The largest jackpot ever won in Las Vegas was $39.7 million.
- The luxury and extravagance of Las Vegas as we know it today was started by Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel - one of the most infamous and feared gangsters of his day
- Las Vegas really does lives up to the hype. Indescribably awesome.
Getting There:
You can fly to Las Vegas from most major UK airports. A whole host of airlines fly to McCarran international airport including Virgin Atlantic and BMI. The airport located at the southern end of the Strip. We highly recommend booking your flights as early as possible. The later you leave it, the more you'll end up paying. Flight time is around 10h:30min.
Getting Around:
If traveling around the strip, walking is a reasonable option as hotel-casinos are found close to each other. In fact, in most cases, at least two hotels are connected to each other either by bridge or underground or in the case of Excalibur, Luxor and Malanday Bay, by a complimentary rail shuttle. Be aware that during the summer, the oppressive heat during the daylight hours may make walking pretty damn uncomfortable. One of the easiest ways to get around is by taxi. It is relatively cheap to go from hotel to hotel. The cab driver is required to turn on the meter and to take the shortest route to your destination. Taxi lines are typically found at the front of hotels. You would be unwise to attempt to hail one on the street, especially on the Strip as it is illegal for a cab to stop traffic to pick up or drop off a passenger. It is customary to tip the hotel taxi dispatcher $1, and to pay the cab driver $1 for every 3 minutes you ride in the cab (on top of the the cost on the taxi meter), and about a $1 per piece of luggage.
Accommodation:
We offer a range of accommodation options to suit all budgets. Whether you want to sleep in the lap of luxury or just want a place to rest your spinning head between drinking session, we know the place for you. All hotels on the Las Vegas strip are also casinos, so you're never too far from a quick flutter. We have a range of top hotels on our books so tell us where you want to stay and we'll do the rest.
Daytime Activities:
Las Vegas offers some truly unique daytime activities. From quad and Hummer adventures across the desert to sub machine gun shooting there's a lot to do outside the strip. With the option of a flight over the Grand Canyon, this spectacular natural wonder of the world is a must - truly breathtaking. The strip itself offers some incredible thrill rides, outdoor shows, crazy architecture - a re-creation of the Eiffel Tower, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Venice canals - and with so many luxurious casinos to choose from you really are spoilt for choice.
Nightlife:
Nightlife in Las Vegas is never hard to find, with a club or lounge in nearly every hotel and casino. Most clubs remain open until 4am, with various after-hour clubs available for the truly hard-core partiers. Drink prices can range anywhere from $4 - $8 for a domestic bottle of beer, $8 - $10 for spirit mixers, and $200 or more for a bottle of alcohol. Clubs are always busy on weekends and packed with some of the most incredibly beautiful women we've ever had the pleasure of ogling, shaking what God so kindly gave them. The dress code varies by club and bar. The general rule of thumb is most of the time women know what to wear when they are going out, and men should avoid wearing tennis shoes, tank tops, hats, t-shirts, and blue jeans.
Strip Clubs:
Sin City has, by far, the most exquisitely beautiful strippers on the face of the planet. These girls are so damn, straight out of Playboy hot, that we begin to lose our composure even thinking about them. With an enormous choice of women and home to the biggest strip club in the world it's easy to carried away in Vegas. But be careful! Perhaps you've heard tales of wild and reckless abandon taking place in stripclubs, or perhaps you've seen that travesty of truth, "Showgirls." Either way, understand this: keep your hands to yourself! If not, expect a kick in the groin or a bouncer's meaty fist. Leaving the grinding to the girls, it's what they're best at. On average, a lap dance should set you back around $20, a VIP dance (usually 3 songs) $100 and a private dance in a VIP area for an hour is usually around $400
Free attractions:
The Fountain Show in front of the Bellagio shoots off every 30 minutes from 3 pm to 7 pm and then every 15 minutes until midnight. (The routines often vary from one show to the next.) Wait until after to dark to go see this attraction. Stunning. The Volcano Fountain in front of the Mirage errupts every 15 minutes after dark until midnight. Truly explosive. The Sirens of TI in front of Treasure Island put on a sexy pirate battle at 7pm, 8:30pm, 10pm, and 11:30pm. Go "downtown" at night so you can check out the Fremont Street Experience. This is a canopy over the Fremont Street pedestrian mall with a giant "screen" several blocks long with a free light and sound show boasting 2 million individual bulbs. Shows start at dusk and are repeated until 11 pm Sunday through Thursday and midnight Friday and Saturday. There's so much to see in this eye-popping neon paradise, it'd be impossible to list it all!
Eating:
Large casinos will invariably offer a variety of dining options, ranging from the omni-present buffet to simple cafes to gourmet restaurants. The most famous buffets in Las Vegas are at the Rio, Bellagio, Paris and Aladdin, though the newly opened Wynn buffet is becoming more and more of a favorite with tourists and locals alike. The best buffets typically run about $30 a person for a weekend dinner. Lunch is your best value at most buffets when they are around half price, breakfasts are cheapest and often have a great spread too. Do not forget that tipping your buffet waiter 10-15% is customary. You can leave cash on the table at the end of your meal or tip the cashier at the counter on a credit card.
Drinking:
In Las Vegas, free drinks are offered to all players, even those playing 5-cent slot machines. It is customary to tip the cocktail waitress at least $1 per drink (unless you like going thirsty). You can never be too drunk to enter a casino as you're much more likely to slam down your life savings on red before realising you're at a craps table. 24 hour drinking across the strip means you'll never be left wanting when it comes to that all important night cap.
