Cannabis:Cannabis in all its forms is tolerated in Amsterdam - not legal. You can consume til your heart’s content inside coffeeshops, but you’re limited to possession of 5 grams per person outside. Smoking weed in public is tolerated, but it’s best to do so in private or certain bar terraces to be on the safe side (and to be polite). Red Light District:Prostitution has been legal in Amsterdam since 2000, with sex workers paying taxes and enjoying the same labour rights as every other profession. Do not, under any circumstances, take photos of the Red Light District window displays - businesses will likely confiscate your camera and give you an earful.
Magic truffles(a close cousin to shrooms), peyote and ayahuasca can be bought legally from ‘smart shops’. The most powerful type of "magic mushrooms," containing psilocybin, were made illegal in 2008.
Avoid:Smoking tobacco inside bars (with the exception of cannabis in coffee shops). Hard drugs like cocaine, ecstasy, LSD and heroin are forbidden in The Netherlands.
