Seemed a little close until you tried it. The axes we used were single blade and I dare say that you would need to be further away for double bladed ones. Even as close as we were, there were plenty of misses.

At 62, this is the one that I was least looking forward to. In the end it was OK. My biggest fear was the dred of it being too high. It turned out to be gauged at just the right level.
