Tips From The Experts

image
Sam Finlayson
Stag Do Expert

Where to stay?

"The Old Town also known as Stare Miasto is ideal for stag groups, providing easy access to the best nightlife and attractions. Alternatively, Kazimierz, with its trendy vibe and unique dining spots to try polish cuisine, is a great choice for groups seeking something a bit more laid-back and hip. Both of these areas are just a short 20 minute walk apart making Krakow a super compact city."

image
Patrick Hynes

Krakow will exceed all expectations

“Bars everywhere, lively squares buzzing with energy, and beer gardens right near the city centre, which are amazing spots to relax with a drink. On top of that, Krakow has stunning historic architecture and a great mix of culture, making it much more than just a party destination. The food and bars are excellent, and the local guides are fantastic, ensuring everything runs smoothly and your group has an unforgettable experience."

Ways to see the city

“Guided bar crawls are one of the top Krakow stag activities and a must-try for first-time visitors, introducing you to the city’s top venues and including drinks in areas like lively areas like the Old Town, Kazimierz (Jewish Quarter), and Podgórze. The main value you will get from the bar crawl are the local guides who will tailor the crawl to your preferences and take you to all the best spots. For something unique, one of the best ways to enjoy the city is onboard a river cruise, having a few drinks whilst enjoying the city from a different perspective."

Cheap Drinks, Big Nights

"Krakow is a great alternative for groups wanting something different to the more mainstream Eastern European cities such as Budapest and Prague. Krakow offers a similar experience and city vibe than these destinations at a much cheaper price point. With standard beer prices in bars only costing around £2, it’s the perfect destination for budget-conscious groups."

What Stags Are Asking About Krakow

Is Krakow a good stag do destination?

Krakow is the perfect stag do spot. It’s got everything: dirt-cheap drinks, insane activities, and nightlife that doesn’t quit until you do. Plus, it’s way less touristy than other popular destinations like Prague but a Krakow stag party is just as wild. You’ll leave with stories you won’t stop telling (or remembering) for years

When is the best time for a stag do in Krakow?

Summer is when Krakow’s at its peak – May through August, the weather’s its warmest, and the city’s buzzing. But honestly, Krakow’s a year-round party. Even in winter, the Old Town looks like a Christmas card, and the bars are just as lively.

Spring (March to May): The city comes alive as temperatures warm up, ranging from 5°C in March to around 20°C in May. Perfect for outdoor activities and enjoying the Old Town.

Summer (June to August): Krakow’s peak season, with warm weather averaging 20-25°C. The sun’s out, the beer gardens are buzzing, and it’s prime time for river cruises and late-night bar hopping.

Autumn (September to November): Cooler, with temperatures from 15°C in September down to around 5°C by November. It’s crisp, colourful, and great for cultural tours with fewer crowds.

Winter (December to February): Cold and magical, with temperatures often dipping below freezing (around -5°C to 0°C). Snow dusts the Old Town, and the lively atmosphere of the Christmas markets.

What are the best nightlife spots in Krakow?

You have to visit the Old Town – think pumping clubs, lively pubs, and buzzing late-night bars. Then there’s Kazimierz, the Jewish Quarter, known for its underground bars and trendy cocktail spots. Whether you’re after a fancy night out, a classic Krakow pub crawl or a raw, wild stag night on a party boat, Krakow delivers unforgettable nightlife that keeps the party going until sunrise.

Any local customs to be aware of?

Keep the beers inside – drinking on the streets in Krakow isn’t a thing, and drinking alcohol in public areas is generally illegal in Krakow (and across Poland), so keep your festivities to licensed venues.

Are there any major events or festivals in Krakow?

Juwenalia (May) – A week-long festival of student parties and concerts across the city.

Krakow Film Festival (May-June) – One of Europe’s longest-running film festivals, featuring documentaries, animations, and shorts.

Krakow Beer Festival (June) – A celebration of local and international craft beers.

Wianki Festival (June) – A massive riverside celebration with live music, fireworks, and wreath-floating traditions - with the clubs ready to party.

Krakow Pierogi Festival (August) – Celebrate Poland’s iconic dumplings with food, music, and cultural events.

Krakow Live Festival (August) – A music festival bringing in international and Polish artists across genres.

Unsound Festival (October) – A globally renowned electronic and experimental music festival.

Christmas Market (December) – Held in the Main Market Square, this festive market offers food, gifts, and seasonal vibes.

How we know what we're recommending

We've been sending stag and hen groups to Krakow since 2006 - 45,126 people across 3,246 bookings to date (as of 21/07/2026).

Our Product team researches and contracts every supplier on this page - accommodation, activities and nightlife - visits as many as we can in person, and keeps reviewing them on an ongoing basis. We're just as selective about who looks after your group on the ground: our local partners recruit and train the guides who'll meet you at the airport, run your activities and lead your nightlife, and we replace any partner who isn't giving customers a great experience.

We back that up with scale. Since 2018 we've collected more than 5,000 individual reviews from customers who've done exactly what you're planning in Krakow alone (5,053 as of 21/07/2026), feeding straight back into which suppliers and partners we keep working with.

We also send our own account managers on the same trips our customers take - flights, accommodation, activities and nightlife, exactly as your group will experience it - so the advice you get comes from people who were actually there, not a brochure.

Krakow: what our Product team knows

image
Hes Hesmer
Stag Do Expert

Hes has 11 years' experience in the stag and hen industry and leads Chillisauce's Product team. His remit covers supplier contracting, location and product research across the UK and Europe, and working out what actually works for groups - drawing on conversion data, customer feedback and years of visiting destinations himself.

Krakow is one of the best-value stag and hen destinations we offer. It's on the Polish złoty rather than the euro, which keeps drinks, food and activities noticeably cheaper than most European stag cities, and the accommodation and nightlife both sit within easy reach of the Old Town. It's a compact city - once you're in the centre, you genuinely don't need taxis to get between venues.

"Keep it simple. A great stag weekend doesn't need to be complicated." - Hes, Head of Product

Area knowledge

Almost everything happens in two areas: the Old Town - where the vast majority of bars, restaurants and activities are based - and Kazimierz, the old Jewish quarter with its own distinct nightlife scene, a short walk away.

A lot of Krakow's bars are underground - cellar and cave-style venues rather than street-level - which is part of the city's character rather than a drawback.

Krakow has two airports. Groups should fly into John Paul II Airport (Kraków–Balice) rather than Katowice - Katowice is a significantly longer, more expensive transfer, and it's an easy mistake to make when booking flights independently.

Flight time from the UK is around two and a half hours, with most major airlines flying direct. Airport transfers from Balice typically run 30–40 minutes by minibus, limo or party bus. Once you're in the centre, the Old Town and Kazimierz are both walkable, so there's little need to budget for taxis during the weekend itself.

Krakow Accommodation

Chillisauce works with a range of Krakow accommodation, almost all of it in or within easy walking distance of the city centre, so groups aren't reliant on taxis to reach the nightlife. Some of the most popular:

Draggo House - excellent price and location, right in the middle of the Old Town nightlife area.

Downtown Krakow - a short walk from the Old Town; a good hotel option for groups who'd rather not do apartments.

Meininger Krakow Centrum - a well-located, recognisable hostel/hotel brand near the centre.

Alexander Hotel - our lowest-priced hotel option in Krakow; central, but an older property, so it suits groups prioritising budget over polish.

Greg & Tom Beer House Hostel - Old Town location, good value, hostel-style.

Apartments - a strong option generally; the cheaper ones tend to be further out, so weigh the saving against the extra distance to the nightlife.

Krakow Activities

Krakow has one of the broadest activity lists of any of our destinations, from big-ticket adrenaline to lower-key options that work earlier in the day.

Shooting - several packages, from an AK-47 and shotgun package through to more extensive firearms experiences. Around 25 minutes' transfer with or without a car included.

White water rafting - held at Krakow's Olympic-standard white water course, a purpose-built, man-made channel that hosts international competitions. Groups of up to 8 per raft. Worth checking availability early, as some weekends are unavailable due to competitions.

River cruises - 1 or 2 hours on the Vistula, with a cash bar on board and the option to add a stripper. Doesn't run in winter, as the river can freeze.

Karting - offered as a sprint race or a full grand prix format (practice, qualifying, final).

Vodka tasting - a guided tasting with Polish snacks, based centrally in the Old Town.

Plenty more options: axe throwing, airsoft, paintball, zorb football, microbrewery tours, quad biking, off-road 4x4 driving, and seasonal options like snowmobiling in winter.

A full range of add-on "stitch ups" can be built into a bar crawl, boat trip or dinner - an extra bit of fun at the groom's expense.

Beyond the party side, a lot of groups also make time for one of Krakow's landmark day trips - the Wieliczka Salt Mine, or a visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial, a sobering but powerful half-day that many are glad they made time for.

Krakow Nightlife

The Old Town is where the weekend happens. A lot of the best bars are tucked into cellars and cave-style spaces down side alleys - it's worth going in expecting an unpolished, atmospheric scene rather than a slick cocktail-bar strip. Kazimierz, a short walk away, is worth exploring too if your group wants a change of scene partway through the night.

“If there's a big match on, Krakow's got more English-style sports bars within walking distance than you'd think - we found one by chance, all screens, cheap beers, and about a hundred Chelsea fans in there for the afternoon. It's not something we can package, but it's a genuinely good thing to know if your trip lands on a match day.” - Neave

What to watch out for

Avoid visiting over Easter - Poland is strongly religious and a lot of venues close for the period. And bear in mind winter brings genuinely cold weather, which affects some activities (river cruises don't run, for instance).

Krakow's Old Town has the usual big-city-stag-destination problem of unlicensed or pushy strip venues that catch out groups who wander in independently. We only ever arrange strip club entry through a booked, guided route, so groups know upfront what they're paying for and aren't left negotiating at the door. It's a small thing, but it's one of the reasons groups come back having had a smooth weekend rather than a story about being overcharged on their last night.

Krakow stag do: our honest guide

We always go first

Based on Chillisauce's trip to Krakow, 24–26 October 2025 (12 people), and a follow-up debrief call with everyone who went.

Written up by Priya (UK Product Manager, 3 years at Chillisauce), who was on the trip herself, drawing on the full team's notes and quotes from the debrief.

The Krakow verdict

Our team went to Krakow to do exactly what your group will do - apartment check-in, activities, a full night out, and a debrief each morning.

What struck us most was how condensed everything is. The Old Town is built around square after square, each one ringed with bars, cave-style clubs and street-level cafés, and you can walk between all of them in minutes.

image

Is Krakow right for your stag do?

Who it's right for: groups who want a high-value, high-activity weekend with everything genuinely on their doorstep. It also suits larger groups well - the compactness means a big stag or hen party doesn't lose people between venues.

Who might look elsewhere: groups chasing a big skyline rooftop scene should manage expectations - Krakow's atmosphere is built at street level, in the squares and cellar bars, rather than up above them.

Tips from our stag experts

Ben, Account Manager, 3 years at Chillisauce

“It's quite condensed, so getting around for a large group is pretty easy - a real plus for nightlife, where you can just walk everywhere, really.”

Neave, Senior Sales Executive (2000+ stag weekends organised)

“Everything was close - square after square after square, bars and pubs all around them, little markets, live singers. It was not what I expected. Also, I really liked the local guides - they were really, really nice, and they take care of you as soon as you get there. ”

Where we stayed - Old City Apartments

Our team stayed in Old City Apartments, right on one of the Old Town's liveliest squares, with the whole trip on foot from the front door. Apartments suit stag and hen groups particularly well here - there's more space to gather as a group before heading out than you'd get in a standard hotel room, and the shared living areas get used properly.

“Everything's walking distance, so you don't really have to get cabs anywhere, and apartments are more party vibe and more social.” - Grace, Senior Event Manager, 9 years in the industry

What we did:

image

Vodka tasting:

A private room in a bar, tasting six shots each, weakest to strongest, with a cold snack platter alongside. Good fun, but our honest recommendation is to do it earlier in the day rather than as a first-night opener.

“Even with ten of us, the guys running it couldn't really get a word in once everyone had had a few - I can imagine with fifteen or twenty guys it would be pretty overpowering for them. I'd do it as a Saturday afternoon activity rather than a Friday night.” - Grace

image

Indoor Go Karting

Good fun and holds up well against other European stag cities.

“I thought it was pretty good. All indoor tracks are fairly similar, but it's up there with Prague and Budapest.” - Ben

image

Axe Throwing

Based right in the centre, in a cave-style venue, with a private booth and a beer fridge to use once the competition's done.

“Because it's so in the centre, even when we were running a couple of minutes behind, it didn't matter - that's a real key thing for stag groups, because people do get lost, or want to grab food, and it's so easy to navigate.” - Neave

image

Shooting Range

Relaxed and efficient - quick paperwork, no unnecessary strictness, and fine to do with a hangover. It's a little further out of town, so factor in transfer time either side.

"They were really laid back - we just had to fill the forms out and we were quickly in." - Priya, UK Product Manager

image

Riverboat Cruise:

The standout of the weekend. Best done in the evening rather than the afternoon.

“We connected our own music and danced going down - in the daytime you'd just sit there and have a few drinks, but at night, with the sun setting, we were partying on top of the boat with our own tunes. That was the best moment of the trip.” - Neave

image

Groble Sky Bar

A cracking rooftop view, but our honest take is that it suits smaller, calmer groups - or hen parties - better than a large, high-energy stag group, and works best earlier in the day rather than as a late-evening stop.

“If it's a rowdy group of lads who just want to go big all night, I wouldn't send them there. But if it's an older group who just want to sit, see the views and have a few drinks, it's such a nice place.” - Neave

image

Brewery Dinner

An excellent meal - roast pork knuckle and a metre of beer each, in a buzzing, packed venue. Our one note from the trip is on timing: because it followed several other stops, our group didn't sit down until nearly 10:30pm. Booking it earlier, around 8–8:30pm, gets the same experience without pushing dinner that late.

“It was the best pork knuckle in the world, and I don't even like pork.” - Neave,

“It's definitely the place to go for authentic food - really popular, absolutely heaving. We had the big table.” - Priya,

Guided bar crawl and Coco Music Club

The bar crawl itself is a strong way to end the night, with a knowledgeable local guide who reads the group's mood and adjusts the route accordingly.

At Coco, book a VIP table rather than a private room - our team was given a self-contained room off to the side for this trip, and while the club itself has a good reputation, being tucked away from the main floor made it feel cut off from the atmosphere. A VIP table keeps you in among the club rather than next to it.

“It wasn't within the club, if you know what I mean - it was like a room, not an area, with sliding doors you'd open and close manually. Bright white lights, so you don't even feel like you're in a club.” - Neave

Practical tips from our team

• If your itinerary allows for it, three nights gives the weekend more breathing room than two - our trip ran across two nights and felt tightly packed by the end.

• Fly into John Paul II Airport, not Katowice - the transfer is considerably shorter and cheaper.

• Krakow's Main Square often has a seasonal open-air market on - food stalls and bars - so check what's on for your dates. If there's one during your trip, it's a good way to fill free time, especially with a later flight home.

• Apartments with a shared kitchen or café attached are a good breakfast option - ours had a bagel shop next door, and it kept the group together rather than scattering to find food.

• At Coco Music Club, request a VIP table rather than a private room - it keeps your group in among the atmosphere rather than off to one side.

If we were doing it again:

Our honest debrief take: run activities before the vodka tasting rather than after, so the tasting doesn't get lost in an already-loud room. Put dinner earlier in the evening rather than letting it drift towards 10.30pm. And treat the rooftop bar as optional rather than a must-do.

“Personally, I'd probably take the vodka tasting out altogether - it's fun, but everyone's just there for the drinks, and no one really cares about the history bit if we're honest. I'd rather just go straight into a bar crawl on the first night.” - Ben

“I'd still do the guided bar crawl on the Friday, and maybe do the meal on the Friday before going out. A lot of groups go for three nights rather than our two, so they can spread it out more than we did.” - Grace

“I'd skip the rooftop bar unless it's really something you want - Krakow is more about the streets and the squares, so you don't need to force one in.” - Neave
