One of world’s oldest test cricket grounds, Trent Bridge is practically a pilgrimage destination for fans of cricket. On England test match days the atmosphere is electric, with great views all across the stadium and enthusiastic home support. Local team Nottingham Outlaws play their home games here during the county cricket season.

Right in the heart of Nottingham this world class ice skating facility is used for training by the British Winter Olympic ice skating team. You can of course come and go ice skating but if your skills on ice are slightly lacking you can also get tuition. For those that prefer to watch their sports, the Nottingham Panthers compete in the top tier of England’s ice hockey league, with the season running from August to April.

Fancy a day at the races? About a mile and a half from the city centre you’ll find Nottingham racecourse which offers top class flat racing. For lucky stags who fancy a more premium day out then Sherwood’s restaurant is the place to enjoy the atmosphere. With great views of the course and top quality food and drink, don your finery and have a more playboy themed stag do.

Nottingham boasts not just one race course, but two! If you fancy a flutter but don’t want to have to bring your Sunday best then this is the best option for a night out (although be careful stags, fancy dress is not allowed). If you’ve never been greyhound racing then you’ll find it an exciting way to get your stag do started.

Nottingham Forest were one of the great European clubs of the 1970’s through to the 80’s, with the legendary Brian Clough leading the team to European glory in 1979 and 1980 (the equivalent of the modern Champion’s League). You’ll find a statue of Brian Clough who has near Saint status here, in the city’s Old Market Square. Although today the team languish in the not so glamorous realms of the Championship, they wear the achievements of the past with pride.
